A loan of $775 helped buy fruit.

Rocio's story

Rocío is 27 years old and is married to José, who is 29 years old. Together they have a 9-year-old son, Frank. They have a house made of good-quality materials, where they share their family experiences.

Initially, she worked growing organic cocoa on rented plots. Subsequently, she started to work selling fruit wholesale. She has been in the business for almost 5 years and with time has been able to gain customers in the capital city of her area. Due to her punctuality, she constantly gets orders such as bananas, mango, pineapple, and papaya from them. It is in this way that she has been able to establish her current business as a good source of income for her family. She likes her work, since she constantly travels to make sure that the fruit arrives in good condition at their destination. This means that she dedicates all of her time to her work.

However, due to transporting her goods via unpaved roads, they often are detained in certain places due to landslides and other issues that are common in rural roads.

Her long-term goals point towards buying her own vehicle. In this way, she will be able to continue carrying out her work and reduce the cost that is generated by paying drivers.

At this time, she needs 2,000 sols ($775) to buy local fruit wholesale, such as bananas, oranges, aguaje, and others to in this way obtain better profits.
