Maria Elena's story

Maria is 40 years old and from Managua. She is unmarried and the mother of a twenty year old son who is studying at the university for a degree in systems engineering. She is a merchant and has owned a bookstore for over eleven years. She began her business with her own capital, money given to her by her companion who was a physical education teacher. This was how she decided to start her own business. She needed a way to survive and generate income for herself. She is happy because this business generates profits daily and she has her son’s support. Maria is requesting the loan to purchase books, notebooks, pencils, markers, crayons, staplers, calculators, etc. She plans to add more school supplies to her bookstore to increase sales and meet her customers’ needs. Most importantly, she plans to take advantage of the opening of the school year. Highlights of her plans for future projects include investing in baby clothes, helping her son set up his own computer lab, and establishing another bookstore in another school.
