Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $400 helped to buy second-hand clothing, perfumes and incense for resale.

Ndeye Marie's story

Ndeye Marie lives in Senegal. She is a widow who has been an active trader since 1986. She sells a variety of products such as perfumes and incense as well as second-hand clothing. The profits which she generates from her business enable her to contribute to the household costs (rent and food). She is a member of one of the U-IMCEC branches where she has already had two previous loans. She is requesting a new loan of 200,000FCFA to buy articles that she will sell in order to build up her business. Her aim is to satisfy customer demand, increase her profits and in the near future acquire her own shop where she can stock her goods.
