A loan of $2,000 helped to buy cattle and feed so she can use the profit to sow rice.

Zulfiya's story

Zulfiya lives in the Spitamen region. She is 31 years old, married, and has 3 children. Her husband works as a handyman in a private construction company. Zulfiya has borrowed from Humo previously, and has now approached the organisation for a loan of 2,000 US dollars to buy cattle and feed. She has been working in animal husbandry for over 15 years, and she buys and sells bulls and cows. She also sells milk and kefir (a type of yogurt drink.) Each day 2 of her cows give 10 litres of milk, 8 of which she sells at a reasonable price. In addition, she grows crops on her 2 hectares of rented land, where she intends to sow rice with the income generated by this loan for cattle.
