Ilusiones (Cuenca) Group's story

The Ilusiones Communal Bank is made up of 10 women who live in Valle de Cuenca parish, a place surrounded by great natural beauty thanks to its rugged geography. It has a cold climate and its architecture is a mixture of the old and the new. The parish has seen great economic growth. Its people are friendly, courteous and warm-hearted. They still maintain the culture and traditions of their small towns. They work hard everyday to improve the economic stability of their households and to help their families get ahead.

One of the members of this bank is Sra. Aída. This is her second loan with Ilusiones Communal Bank. She enjoys the bank because she can meet with her friends at the meetings and leave her daily work routine behind. The loans also help her improve her business.

Sra. Aída is 52 years old. She is married and has six children from this union: two are married and live independently, two work and attend night school, while her two youngest attend school in the city. Her husband lives abroad because he has emigrated in search of a better future for the family. She owns her home.

Doña Aída is a very enterprising woman who runs several enterprises. She has had a store for the past 20 years, where she works every day from 6 in the morning until 8 at night. From Mondays to Fridays, she also sells lunches and on the weekend she sells roast chickens. She also raises pigs, sheep, Guinea pigs and chickens. In addition, she cultivates her land and uses her crops for household consumption.

She will use her new loan to purchases supplies to stock her store. Her goal is to have a boutique in her home and also telephone booths.
