A loan of $600 helped a member to purchase soap.

La Paix Group's story

The six members of the group LA PAIX are married women averaging 39 years of age and five children each. The women live in monogamous families in ATT BOUGOU, a new working-class district in Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). They are on their third loan with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso out of concern for satisfying the needs of their customers.

Ms. Nassitan does commerce in soap in this group of women. She is the one standing second from the left in the photo. She intends to use her loan to purchase about 10 boxes of soap that she sells retail locally and at the Medine market.

She envisions making an average monthly profit of 15,000 francs CFA. Part of the profits is used to repay the loan and the interest, and the other part goes to savings.
