A loan of $600 helped to purchase bales of used clothing.

Sina Cheick's story

Mr. Sina Cheick is 38 years old and married, and he has no children. He lives in a traditional family with other households in the Missira district of Ségou (4th administrative region of the Republic of Mali). Having dropped out of school early, he started off in the commerce of secondhand clothing along side his cousin. He works alone operating in the same business. He has been in this business for six years and enjoys much experience and fame. His selling power is due to the quality of his merchandise. He makes his sales in cash to a customer base composed mostly of young people.

Concerned about satisfying customer demand, especially during the hot time of year, which is starting, he is requesting this loan to purchase light-weight clothing suitable for hot weather. He has been associated with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso for twelve months after properly repaying an initial individual loan. He is now on his second individual loan, which he intends to use to purchase 5 bales of used clothing. He gets his supplies in Bamako.

Mr. Sina Cheick most often accepts cash in his sales to a customer base composed exclusively of youngsters. With this loan, he envisions making a monthly profit of 100,000 francs CFA. This will enable him to cover family expenses and to increase his working capital. His ambition is to build a house.
