Maria

A loan of $375 helped to pay for banana, pork, sugar, cooking oil, gas and other ingredients needed in her business.

Maria's story

This is Maria, age 39, a mother and a resident of Cabrera, Philippines. She is married to Jorge, a seaman. Together with her husband she manages their household while operating the business. At this time, she is working hard to continually provide income for their everyday expenses.

Maria operates a food stall. She sells snacks like siomai, siopao, bananaque (sugar-coated banana) and other street food staples and also cooked viands that she sells in their community. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 400 PHP in sales every day.

To help her continue her business, she is requesting a loan of 15,000 PHP. She will use the loan to buy banana, pork, sugar, cooking oil, gas and other ingredients needed in her business. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business.

Maria hopes to expand her business and dreams of giving her children a good life and education. She meets up with her co-fellowship members to share stories of her life and business every week and where she can also draw strength and inspiration from the Word of God she studies.

* All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay Micro Finance loans.
