A loan of $1,025 helped a member to purchase fruit & vegetables.

Sante Group's story

The group SANTE comprises four married women and one unmarried woman. They average 32 years of age and four children each, living in traditional extended families in the district of Hérémakono Centre in Bougouni City. They know one another through ties of community, friendship, and commerce. To bolster their financial capacity, so as to do better business, they joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso and are now on their second loan.

This group of women does commerce in fruit & vegetables through Ms. MANTA, who is seated in the photo and holding a large dish of bananas. She intends to use her loan to purchase 25 bunches of bananas at 20 kg from Bougouni producers.

Accepting cash or credit from a customer base composed essentially of women, she makes her sales at the market and at home. She envisions making an average monthly profit of 42,000 francs CFA that will be invested in business and used to pay back the loan.
