Djefafo Group

The Djekafo group consists of six married women who on average are 30 years old with three children. They all live in traditional families in Meridiela, one of the villages around Bougouni.

They became acquainted through neighborhood ties, friendship and commerce. To strengthen their financial capacity and improve their businesses, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution where they are on their sixth loan. Previous loans have been repaid in full. This group of women trade in grain cereals, condiments, fried cakes and catering.

Diatou is sitting and holding a document. She buys and sells condiments and intends to use the loan to buy three boxes of Maggi cubes, two bags of onions, two packages of spices and a half-bag of salt from wholesalers in Bougouni. She sells her products at the Meridiela market, at fairs in surrounding villages and through home sales. She sells retail for cash and credit to both men and women customers.

She expects to make an average monthly profit of 45.000 FCFA she will use to invest in the business and repay the loan.

Le groupe Djekafo est constitué de 6 femmes toutes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 30 ans et 3 enfants. Elles vivent toutes dans des familles traditionnelles à Méridièla, un des villages du cercle de Bougouni.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Afin de renforcer leurs capacités financières pour de mieux faire leurs commerces, elles ont adhérés à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur sixième prêt. Les précédents prêts ont été correctement remboursés. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de céréales, de condiments, de beignets et de la restauration.
Diatou assise papier en main, fait l’achat vente de condiments. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, 3 cartons de cube Maggi, 2 sacs d’oignons, 2 colis d’épices et ½ sac de sel de cuisine auprès des grossistes de Bougouni. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché de Méridièla, dans les foires des villages environnants et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 45.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
