A loan of $625 helped a member to buy seasonings.

Badegna Group's story

The female members of the Badegna group are all married, and have an average age of 29. They have an average of three children each, and mainly live in nuclear families in the Massablacoura neighborhood in the city of Bougouni. These women know each other through their businesses and because they are neighbors. To develop their financial capacity so that they can better run their businesses, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, and are on their first loan cycle.

This group of women works selling fish and seasonings in Bougouni market. Lalla, who is the only woman seated in the photo, buys and sells seasonings. With her loan, she plans to buy two boxes of bouillon cubes and two 25-kilo baskets of tomatoes. She sells her goods in the Grand Market of Bougouni, selling on a cash and credit basis to customers who are mostly female. Lalla hopes to make an average monthly profit of 35,000 francs CFA, part of which will be invested in her business. She plans to invest the rest in her children’s healthcare expenses.
