The female members of the Badegna group are all married, and have an average age of 29. They have an average of three children each, and mainly live in nuclear families in the Massablacoura neighborhood in the city of Bougouni. These women know each other through their businesses and because they are neighbors. To develop their financial capacity so that they can better run their businesses, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, and are on their first loan cycle.

This group of women works selling fish and seasonings in Bougouni market. Lalla, who is the only woman seated in the photo, buys and sells seasonings. With her loan, she plans to buy two boxes of bouillon cubes and two 25-kilo baskets of tomatoes. She sells her goods in the Grand Market of Bougouni, selling on a cash and credit basis to customers who are mostly female. Lalla hopes to make an average monthly profit of 35,000 francs CFA, part of which will be invested in her business. She plans to invest the rest in her children’s healthcare expenses.

Toutes mariées, les femmes du groupe Badegna ont une moyenne d’âge de 29 ans, 3 enfants et vivent majoritairement dans des familles nucléaires dans le quartier Massablacoura de la ville de Bougouni.
A travers les activités de commerce et le voisinage, ces femmes se sont connues. Pour développer leur capacité financière afin de mieux mener leur commerce, elles adhérent à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur premier cycle de prêt. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de poisson et de condiments dans le marché de Bougouni.
Lalla, qui est la seule assise, fait l’achat vente des condiments et compte acheter avec son prêt, deux catons de cube maggi et deux paniers de 25 kilos de tomates. Elle effectue ses ventes dans le grand marché de Bougouni, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle composée essentiellement de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 35.000FCFA dont une partie sera investi dans l’activité et l’autre partie sera utilisée pour les frais de santé des enfants.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
