Thirteen women from a village stepped out and formed a group named Maa Bhuasuni M K S in Odisha. They help each other and share their problems and solve them among them. They celebrate their festivals together in their village.

Sabitri, leader of the group, is engaged in the activity of selling products made of plastic like mugs, plates, table covers, Tupperware, containers, etc. She purchases these products from a wholesaler and then sells them at the market. Her husband assists her in selling these products. In this way she is earning to control her cash flow, which is not sufficient to manage her daily family activities.

She wants to enlarge her business, so she wants to purchase more products of such kind in bulk, so that she can reduce her transportation cost. In this way she can earn a good amount after all expenditures in her business.

She has requested a loan of 195,000 INR for her group, so that they can earn more and they will control their family cash flow.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
