Better Group's story

The “Better” group consists of small scale businesswomen based in Waterloo, a town in western Sierra Leone. They are requesting a loan for 4,400,000 Sierra Leonean Leones for the group, which they will use to expand their respective businesses, make more profits, and improve their standard of living.

The leader of this group is Abibatu. Abibatu is 40 years old, married, and has five children who attend school. She was born in Yonni Bana village, in northern Sierra Leone but now resides in Waterloo. Abibatu has been a businesswoman for many years selling rice, beans, peppers, etc. With her portion of the loan, she will buy rice, beans, peppers, etc. at wholesale prices to add to her business.
