A loan of $2,000 helped to be able to pay for the improvements of her sewing area.

Gelaz's story

Gelaz is a 59-year-old, Iraqi woman. She is married and a mother of one child. With limited career options due to cultural restrictions and domestic constraints, Gelaz is one of the many Iraqi women who are working from home. She uses her sewing skills to generate some income and participate in meeting the financial needs of her family.

Gelaz has six years' experience with the small, home-based, sewing and tailoring activity which she would like to improve. She would like to create better work conditions for herself, which will allow her to work more efficiently and also create a nicer experience for her customers as they place their orders for dresses or other small, fabric, household items.

To be able to pay for the improvements, Gelaz took a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq in the amount of USD 2,000.
