Irene's Group's story

Irene is a thirty-six year old shopkeeper, selling household commodities. She is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because, in her own words, "I saw KOMAZA as a project of reducing poverty due to the money I will get from the trees." With the profits from her tree farm, Irene plans to educate her children, purchase a dairy cow for milk production, and buy other livestock.
