A loan of $450 helped to buy cosmetics and clothes.

María Elena's story

María is requesting her first loan with El Credito (The Loan), the Communal Bank she has been invited to by her mother-in-law. She lives in a nice area of Cuenca, a town renown for her 4 rivers and for its city center, where colonial, natural and modern elements blend in. Its inhabitants keep their traditional culture alive, and they are kind, gentle and welcoming people who work on a daily basis to improve their economic situation as well as that of their families.

María is 21 years old, she is married and she has a 4-year-old daughter. Her husband works as a taxi driver, and they live in the house of a relative because they do not have a house of their own.

María sells a great variety of cosmetics and clothes by catalogue, an activity she has been engaged in for 4 years working Sundays to Sundays, and she goes to school at night.

She will invest her new loan in the purchase of cosmetics and clothes.

Her goals are to complete secondary education and to attend university.
