A loan of $600 helped a member to buy more products for her salon to attract more clients.

Jackline's Group's story

Jackline's group is comprised of four hardworking women. Twenty-three-year-old Jackline, who lives in the town of Kasese in the Fortportal region of Uganda, is married and has two children, one of whom is currently in school. For the past three years, she has been working hard to manage her salon, which sells hair products.

To help expand her business, Jackline has requested a loan of 600000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda to buy more products for the salon to attract more clients. This will help Jackline to generate greater profits and boost the business.

Jackline is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.

In this group: Jackline, Jane, Beatrice, Elizabeth
