Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $2,750 helped a member to purchase items for her store (rice, beans, cassava flour, …) to resell, so as to earn more.

Twizere Group's story

Arthémie is part of the group Twizere and lives in Kayanza. She is 32 years old and married to Diomède, a merchant and farmer. Together they have five children, from 7 months old to 15 years old; three of them are students.

Arthémie has had a store (rice, beans, cassava flour,…) for eight years.

She is on her second Turame loan. With the KIVA loan she is obtaining, she is going to increase her capital and purchase many items for her store (rice, beans, cassava flour,…) to resell, so as to earn more.

In the coming years, she would like to purchase a vehicle to facilitate her commerce and to see her children attend school.
