A loan of $3,000 helped a member to purchase tree farm inputs such as eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizer, as well as to pay for technical trainings and maintenance support.

Sada's Group's story

Sada, age 29, is a small-scale dry-lands farmer. She and her husband, who is also a farmer, have eight children, seven of whom are enrolled in school. In the picture, Saba is shown with her hand raised.

Dada is joining the KOMAZA microforestry program because she likes the concept of planting trees for income generation. With the proceeds from her tree farm, Sada says, "I am planning to send my young kids to university and improve my life standard." She also wants to build a house and install electricity in her home.

She has some additional business ideas as well, including using her tree farm profits to buy a dairy cow or open a shop.
