A loan of $400 helped to purchase organic fertilizer.

Olinda's story

Olinda is 46 years old and a cheerful and healthy woman. She lives with her two sons: Jhonatan and Milton, who she raises in her rural house that she inherited 18 years ago. She has farmland in the valley, very close to the town. This is an advantage for marketing, transportation, and maintenance of her land. She says that when she was very young, she learned everything necessary in order to be a good farmer, as she has been for 18 years. “At that time, I didn’t have my own land; I rented or went into partnership with other farmers,” she says. Her main crops consist of potatoes, beans, barley, quinoa and peas, which she cares for every day without rest, together with the livestock farming that she also does. Currently, her children are growing, and she hopes to be able to give them the best higher education. Because of this, she plans to increase production of her food crops in greater quantities, and increasing her livestock that will give her extra income. This is her first loan with MFP. She feels grateful for the financial support that she received, as it will help her to improve her earnings and increase her working capital. She promises to be punctual with the repayment of her quotas. Olinda is requesting S/. 1000 soles, with which she will purchase sacks of organic fertilizer, because very soon she will be planting potatoes and other root vegetables.
