Carlos Adán's story

Carlos lives in Catarina, also known as the white towns, in Masaya department, which has one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Nicaragua, along with a great variety of handicrafts made in the area. Carlos, 52, is married, and his family comprises his wife and two children. He has run his own business, a nursery, for 25 years. The valuable experience he has garnered over the years has helped him keep all the plants and flowers he cares for healthy. His two children also help maintain the plants, which include jasmine, roses, and bougainvilla.

His business has let him provide for his family. All his effort is currently focused on one son who is in college; one of his dreams is to see his son become a professional.

His customers are foreigners, people from other departments in the country such as San Juan del Sur, and loyal locals. He is applying for a loan to buy bougainvilla, clavellinas, multi-flowers, water lilies, cactus, hydrangea, palms, robeliana, coludos, monkey-puzzle trees, and organic fertilizer. The investment will allow him to stock a variety of plants so that his customers will visit more often.
