A loan of $375 helped to buy mattresses to sell.

Rose's story

Rose operates a retail shop selling mattresses, pillows, and bedsheets, among other things. The business is in Muhoro village, on the outskirts of Kagadi town; her major customers are the residents of the area. She is single, with five children who are all in school. She is responsible for paying their tuition, and meeting their other needs. Rose wants a loan of 1,000,000 UGX to buy more mattresses so she can meet the demands of the students who are going back to school, and also be able to realize good returns on the business. The major challenge she has is fluctuating demand, and having limited capital to buy a lot of stock for the business at one time. She has to shop numerous times, which increases her transportation costs, yet if she had enough money, she would shop once, and save on costs. Rose's dream is to educate her children up to higher levels of learning, and improving their standard of living.
