A loan of $1,525 helped a member to buy a buffalo to help in the rice field.

Noern's Group's story

Originally from a rural village of the Sampov Meas district of Pursat province, Noern is a 38-year-old married mother of six children, three of whom are dependent on her and still too young for school. Rice farming has been the main source of her family’s income for several years, and to better support the family and help to earn more income, her husband works as a paid construction worker in local area. They can earn about 33,000 KHR per day to meet the family’s needs and manage to save about 15,000 KHR each day for future needs. Noern has been with VisionFund for one cycle and completely paid back the past loan, while the other member is just with VisionFund this cycle. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan. Noern, who is the leader, wants to use her portion to buy a buffalo to help her in the rice field. She hopes to increase her crop yield so as to improve her standard of living and send her children to school.
