Sinuon, a young 22-year-old woman working at garment factory, is a local citizen from Kandal Stoeng district of Kandal Province. Her current occupation earns her about USD 12 per day and saves her about USD 3 per day, after offsetting her other expenses. For Sinuon, lack of transportation support is the key challenge for her current job.
To tackle this challenge, she applied for a new loan with VisionFund Cambodia. Sinoun is a first-time borrower with VisionFund Cambodia for this cycle.
She will use her loan to buy a decent motorbike to support her current job. She hopes that this purchase will help her to reduce the transportation burden which she used to have, so that she can save that money to support her living, instead.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
