A loan of $450 helped to buy handcrafted merchandise.

Teresa De La Concepcion's story

Teresa, 56, is the mother of two children and a native of the city of León. She has made a living as a merchant for 15 years. She started selling a few handcrafted pieces such as wallets, shirts, bracelets, and clay pitchers. Little by little she started introducing more variety. She says her fair prices were what helped her have good sales. She also learned what types of articles her customers looked for most. This has been the only business with which she has supported her family. She would like to export her handicraft works outside the country, make them known in Panama and Central America. Her hope is to set up another section where she only sells traditional clothing from the local agriculture. She needs the loan to buy merchandise such as pitchers, pots, bags, and handcrafted pieces made of clay and wood.
