Sarah's story

Sarah is widowed with three children and all her children go to school. She also takes care of additional family members. She has a business of selling popcorn. She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more maize for making popcorn. She generates additional income through selling charcoal and chicken. She works at the market and has been in this business for five years and sells on a retail basis only. Her major business challenge includes seasonality and transportation. She is aspiring of becoming a wholesaler and also to open up another branch selling popcorn. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and feeding the family.
