A loan of $700 helped a member to stock more clothes for sale.

Sarah's Group's story

Sarah's group is comprised of 3 hard working women. Sarah is 24 years old and lives in the town of Iganga in the Iganga region of Uganda. For the past 4 years, Sarah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which trades in adult and children’s wear.

To help expand her business, Sarah has requested a loan of 800000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more clothes for sale, and will help Sarah to generate greater profits and take care of her necessities. Sarah hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business.

Sarah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
