A loan of $1,075 helped a member to buy fertilizer and insecticide and to pay a transplanting fee for her farm.

Norn's Group's story

Norn, a mother of eight children, is 52 years old and a resident from Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. She is a rice farmer on one and a half hectares of land and her husband is a construction worker. Involved in this business for 35 years, Norn is able to earn up to 26,500 KHR per day. For her, the lack of working capital is the key challenge.

To tackle this challenges, Norn is leading a group of four members to apply for a new loan. Two members are the third-time borrowers and the other two are first-time borrowers with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Norn has succeeded in using her past loans to support her family and finally she managed to buy some household materials. Now, her group is borrowing 4,200,000 KHR. As the group leader, Norn will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer and insecticide and to pay a transplanting fee for her farm. She hopes to gain a better crop yield and earn more income from her current business.
