Kina's Group's story

Age 41 and a rural farmer from Battambang Province, Kina is also a mother of three children. She strives for a living through 3.5 hectares of rice cropping and wrapping hashed meat with banana leaves for extra income. To add on to the family’s income, her husband also grows watermelon on two hectares of farmland and raises ten cows. For 15 years, Kina has been engaged in this business. She earns KHR 119,400 per day and saves KHR 10,000 per day, after deducting all expenses.

This is the eighth cycle of loans for Kina and the seventh cycle for her co-borrower in their group of two. The past loans have improved support for Kina's business in a gradual way and she has completely repaid back her past loans already.

Now, Kina and her fellow group member are seeking the same loan amount, KHR 1,400,000 each. For Kina, this loan portion will be used to support her husband’s business, watermelon-growing. She hopes to increase income, so that she can relieve her family's burden better than before.
