A loan of $2,725 helped to purchase 5 heifers.

Cholponai's story

Cholponai is 54 years old. After the fall of the USSR and the dismantling of the collective farm system, she received a portion of land, which is how she ended up starting her own business in 1992 with a sum of just 5,000 Kyrgyzstan Som. Since that time, she has been working in animal husbandry and growing crops. Thanks to her hard work, her business brings in a monthly profit of 15,000 Som from the sale of milk and dairy products, and the sale of crops generates an annual income between 50,000 and 100,000 Som, depending on what kind of season it has been. Currently, her farm includes 2 dairy cows, 2 horses, and 2.4 hectares of land where she grows peppers and perennial herbs. For the purpose of further developing her business, Cholponai has approached Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 13,000 Som to buy 5 heifers to fatten and sell. Her long-term plan for the income generated by this loan is to expand her business, and in the short term, it will allow her to realise a long-cherished dream of buying a car.
