A loan of $600 helped to buy fertilizers and cochineal infestation.

Frech's story

Frech is a very enthusiastic and hard-working man who lives in the city of Nazca, a city that is characterized by its warm climate, by its tourist attractions, and its agriculture, especially the cultivation of cotton, corn, and cactus fruit, among others. When Frech has free time he likes to watch television with his family and also likes to prepare one of his favorite dishes, chicken with rice. He only attended secondary school, but he would have liked to have studied nursing. Because of this he works very hard to give his children a good education so that they will be better than he is.

With a lot of enthusiasm, Frech works on his cactus fruit crop and the sale of cochineals. Cactus fruit is a fruit that grows in a plant that looks like a cactus. In these types of plants there also lives an insect known as the cochineal, which is used by cosmetic and other businesses as a dye to color to their products. He dedicates 10 hours a day to his business; he believes that his business is going well because he is very hard-working and has the support of his wife.

Frech is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, and thanks to the help they have given him he has been able to do maintenance on his crop with fertilizers and to infest the crop with more cochineals, as these little animals live in this type of fruit. With this improvement he will be able to increase his earnings and produce more cochineals, which will allow him to keep growing and keep fighting every day to make his greatest dream a reality: "To give his children a good education and to be a good farmer."
