Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $275 helped to buy a stove.

Celina Gisvel's story

Celina is a very enthusiastic young adult with a lot of motivation to get ahead. The house Celina lives in is located in the city of Ica, which is characterized by having a very warm and friendly climate. A lot of agricultural work is done here, and cotton, grapes and asparagus are commonly grown, among other things. Celina learned to work when she was very young since her parents had few economic resources. She began to help them to be able to get ahead, and due to this she was only able to study until 5th grade, but would have liked to have been able to go to university.

Day by day Celina works as a housekeeper. She works around 9 hours a day and with the fruit of her labor she is able to help her parents. Celina believes that she is getting ahead because she is responsible and honest.

Celina is very grateful for the Kiva lenders, since thanks to the help that they have offered she will be able to buy a gas stove, since currently her stove runs on kerosene and a few days ago she had a small accident. Thanks to God it wasn't a big accident, but it is because of this that with this great support she will be able to improve the quality of life of her family and continue fighting to be able to make her biggest dream reality: "To have her own home and be able to study in the university."
