A loan of $1,000 helped to buy three pints of sorbet, three boxes of 100 cones, three quintals of potatoes, three five-bottle carafes of oil, ten quintals of corn for making pupusas, five pounds of pork rinds, five pounds of cheese, and the respective vegetables for making salad (cabbage, carrots, chiles, etc.).

Elsy Noemi's story

Elsy, 24, has four children, ages 10, 8, 4 and 10 months, all boys. She makes a living selling different food items such as the following: sorbets, french fries and pupusas. She sells them in her home, and she already has a very good client base made up of the people who live in her community. She has been performing this work for about five years.

She is a single mother and she alone ensures the support of her small children, two of whom go to school despite limiting factors. They have a decent roof and a good education.

For the creation of the different food items that she produces, she buys the raw materials in different stores in the city where they sell to her at wholesale prices, at a distance of three kilometers from her house.

The loan she is requesting from Fundación Campo will be used to buy three pints of sorbet, three boxes of 100 cones, three quintals of potatoes, three five-bottle carafes of oil, ten quintals of corn for making pupusas, five pounds of pork rinds, five pounds of cheese, and the respective vegetables for making salad (cabbage, carrots, chiles, etc.)

With this investment, she would be able to increase her inventory for the making of the different products that she creates and in this way her clients will always buy her products, since there are occasions on which - due to a lack of cash - she cannot buy the raw materials to make her products with.

If she is able to sell all of these food products, her sales income will be greater and in this way she can give her four children a better education, since they have other needs she cannot meet due to her current income. Among her plans is the installation of a store, where she can sell basic needs products, since she lives with many people in the community and they have to leave the canton to be able to buy things. Another future goal she has is that her four children get a good education so that they can be good men tomorrow.
