Alejandra is 56 years old and married with two children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidenal. She owns and operates a charcoal business in the local community to earn a living. She's been with her business for over 10 years and earns 3,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) every month.
She joined GDMPC in the year 2009, and now she is requesting a loan of 7,000 PHP to purchase raw materials. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve her house.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
