A loan of $5,450 helped a member to buy materials to make artisan handicrafts.

Las Soñadoras Group's story

Las Soñadoras communal bank is made up 11 members, eight women and three men. Ritha, 49, is the president of the bank. She has two children, ages 15 and 17. Ritha works making and selling artisan handicrafts in her kiosk, located in the same town where she lives. This is her first loan from the institution. Ritha will use this loan to buy materials to make her crafts. Her reason for asking for this loan is to improve her business. Ritha will use her earnings to continue buying materials and increase her income. Her hope for her business is to have a large artisan store and this way be able to provide her customers with greater service. Ritha is a very hard-working person. She is glad for the opportunity that has been given to her and her fellow group members because in some cases they are supporting their families on their own.
