Greetings from the "Hacienda Chacrasana" group, with has eight hard-working and enthusiastic members that are now moving on to their seventh cycle. Milagros is 29 years old and lives with her two children, both of whom are minors. She currently has a small grocery store that sells staple foods. Her parents were the ones that motivated her to start her own business and with her work and dedication she has improved her family's quality of life. The loan she is applying for will be used to buy merchandise such as groceries, drinks and sweets. Her next goal is to start a restaurant. This would generate higher profits. In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
