Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Cecilia's story

Cecilia is 44 years old and a single mother of four children. She lives with her children and her grandmother in a neighborhood in the town of Tela, Atlántida.

For the past three years, Cecilia has managed her own grocery business where she sells rice, beans, lard, canned goods, condiments, donuts, bread, grains, flour, soap, bran, soft drinks, and other products. She has obtained several loans from ODEF and the one she is currently requesting is her 17th transaction, which is in the amount of 13,000 HNL. The proceeds will be used to restock her business with basic grains, bran, soft drinks, and other products. Her plan is to continue growing her grocery business.
