A loan of $200 helped to buy more material for making school uniforms and other clothes.

Flavia's story

Flavia is 17 years old and lives in the town of Seeta, in the Mukono region of Uganda. For the past two years, Flavia has been working hard to manage her tailoring business.

To help expand her business, Flavia has requested a loan of 500,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more material for making school uniforms and other clothes, and will help Flavia to generate greater profits and take good care of herself. Flavia hopes that in the future, she will be able to build a house.

Flavia is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
