A loan of $475 helped a member to stock more clothes to sell in her store.

Mbabazi's Group's story

Mbabazi's Group is comprised of two hard-working women. Mbabazi is 22 years old and lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, one of whom is currently in school. For the past three years, Mbabazi has been working hard to manage her small store, which sells clothes. To help expand her business, Mbabazi has requested a loan of UGX 600,000 from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more clothes to sell, and it will help Mbabazi to generate greater profits and support her family’s basic needs. Mbabazi hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business into a wholesale business.
Mbabazi is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
