Ingusi Group's story

Ingusi Group is located in Kakamega South District. It is a group of 13 women and 3 men led by Mabel, pictured on the right with her hand raised. She is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of maize, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Mabel joined One Acre Fund during the Long Rains 2011 seaspm, and is now enrolling in the Long Rains 2013 season. Mabel joined One Acre Fund so that she could access the best input prices and pay for the loan slowly.

Mabel described her harvest as excellent last year as a One Acre Fund farmer and hopes for another good year in the 2013 Long Rains season. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school and save for the future. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Mabel’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each.
