A loan of $225 helped a member to buy fishing materials for supporting her husband’s business.

Ra's Group's story

A villager from the Pursat province’s Kror Kor district, Ra is 31 years old and married. She has three dependent children who are still in school. The main source of her family’s income is from rice farming.

To better support her family, her husband also catches fish to earn additional income. Having been in this business for ten years, she is able to earn a daily income of about KHR 19,000 to support her family, and she can save about KHR 5,000 per day for their future needs.

This is the first loan for Ra with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. She is leading her group of two to ask for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fishing materials for supporting her husband’s business. She hopes to catch more fish to make a better living.
