A loan of $1,625 helped to buy materials like soil, firewood, and sawdust to make more bricks.

Nelson Gilberto's story

Nelson was born in Manta. His business is brick production, and he makes them from soil, firewood, and sawdust, etc. During the interview Nelson indicated that he has known the trade of making bricks ever since he was little. This is because his family made bricks. He has now had his own business for seven years.

He works with two workers who join him from five in the morning until four in the afternoon. The difficulties that he has in his business of producing bricks made from soil, firewood, and sawdust are his illness and bad weather.

He is a married man, and he has a six year old child who goes to a public school. His wife devotes herself to the domestic chores.

He wants to use the loan to buy materials like soil, firewood, and sawdust to make more bricks. His goal and dreams are to use this help to be able to increase his business with more workers. He wants to do this in order to make more bricks and get greater income.
