A loan of $1,475 helped a member to buy wool.

Agua De La Vida De Viacha Group's story

The communal bank “Agua de la Vida de Viacha” will begin its first cycle in Pro Mujer, as part of the Centro Focal de Villa Adela. It is made up of six members and is headed by a board where Sonia is the president. The business that the members of the communal bank are in are varied and among them are: dairy and livestock, macramé, and sewing skirts.

The loan they are taking will benefit small microentrepreneurs where Sonia is a member. She says that it is her first time as a member of Pro Mujer, joining through invitation from a supporter of the institution that came to her home. Currently she has a macramé weaving business. This business she learned from her aunt some years ago.

The loan that she is now taking is to increase her capital (to buy wool) that she will buy in the El Alto markets at wholesale and later her creations are sold by order. This way of working permits her to generate income in order to maintain as much as possible her household, as she is single and has a son.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the training covering health and savings.
