A loan of $175 helped to purchase fruit and peanuts for re-sale.

Aminata's story

Madame Aminata lives in Senegal. She is widowed and lives with her children. She has been working in retail for over 12 years, and sells fruit (mangos, oranges etc. and peanuts). She is a member of the U-IMCEC microfinance group from whom she is seeking a 75,000 CFA loan. This will be the first loan she has requested and will enable her to stock up on fruit in sufficient quantities in order to satisfy her customers' demands. This loan will, on the one hand, enable her to boost her business revenues and also to see to her family's everyday needs, e.g. by paying the monthly water and electricity bills. Her dream is to become a successful saleswoman.
