A loan of $200 helped to buy compost.

Juan's story

Juan, 51, is married to Doris. They have three children that live with them in their own house, built by Juan many years ago.

Juan is a hardworking man who works in agriculture. He grows different crops in three hectares he owns, such as potatoes, green peas, lettuce, cabbage and alfalfa. “The secret is to grow all kinds of things, in different seasons, in order to have a stable income,” he says.

Thanks to his hard work, Juan has managed to buy several pieces of land; he built his house in one of them and grows food in the remaining ones. He also has two oxen that help him to plow the land; by renting them to other farmers, he receives an additional income. Juan is now preparing the land to grow oat, barley and corn and that is why he requires help.

This is his sixth loan with MFP. He appreciates all the support he has received. He is a member of the communal bank “Señor de Muruhay.” He is responsible and on time with his payments.

Juan will use the 500 soles [PEN] to buy compost for his crops.
