A loan of $4,500 helped a member to purchase tree farm supplies such as eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizer, as well as to pay for technical training and maintenance support.

Rebecca's Group's story

Rebecca is a 28-year-old mother of two and a tailor. Her husband is an electrician. Rebecca sees the KOMAZA microforestry program "as an investment for the future for my kids." With the income from her tree farm, Rebecca intends to send her children to school without financial strain, build a permanent home with electricity and improve her tailoring business. Also pictured with the group of nine is Dzame, who showed a great deal of interest in the KOMAZA tree-planting program but was unable to commit her family's time to an additional agricultural venture this season.

In this group: Rebecca, Sofia, Josephine, Christine, Masika, Kache, Nyamawi, Evans , Jonathan
