Inuka Group's story

Melisa is a member of Inuka Group, which is comprised of 21 farmers and is located in Kakamega South District. Melisa is pictured on the right, with her hand raised. She is pictured amongst the 9 men and 12 women of her group. She will receive inputs on credit, capable of planting ½ an acre with sorghum, millet, and maize. The 2013 Long Rains season will be Melisa’s first season with One Acre Fund. She joined this year, in order to grow enough food for the family and learn more farming skills.

Melisa thought her harvest last year was poor. She hopes that as a One Acre Fund farmer, she can have an excellent harvest this year. She plans on using future profits from the harvest to send her children to school and to save for the future. During the 2013 Long Rains season, each member of Inuka Group will receive ½ an acre of agricultural inputs, on credit. In total, the group will receive 10.5 acres' worth of inputs, on credit.
