A loan of $775 helped to buy fertilizer, seeds of herbs, and animal feed.

María Purificacion's story

María has been a member of the communal bank, 14 de Agosto, for five years. During which time, she has formed good friendships with her neighbors and fellow members. She lives near the parish Zhidmad, located in Cuenca. The surrounding mountains form breathtaking landscapes in this area. Residents mainly work raising animals, farming, or traveling to the city to work.

María is 47 years old. She is married and has three children ages 22, 19, and 18. Her oldest daughter is married and lives independently. María's second daughter helps her with the work at home, while her youngest studies in a local high school. María's husband works as a mechanic and has his own repair shop.

María makes a living working the land by her house as well as taking care of the household chores. She is a very hardworking and enterprising woman. María's crops feed her family and also are sold in her community. She raises guinea pigs, chickens, and cattle, from which she sells milk.

She will invest this loan to buy fertilizer and the seeds of herbs to improve her gardens and pastures, as well as feed for her animals.

Her dream is to open a store from her house.
