A loan of $300 helped to purchase barbed wire and to pay for labor to clean his lands.

Nicolas's story

Nicolás is a humble 57-year-old farmer. He is illiterate but is a very hard worker and an active father of five children, all of whom are grown up. Nicolás makes a living growing corn, beans and wheat, and raising cattle and pigs. He started working when he was 10 years old with his family so he could become independent, and he continued working in the field and raised his children to teach them how to work off the land. He and his eldest son plant and sell their goods in their community, and when they aren't planting they sell cattle and pigs. Nicolás is requesting the loan to purchase barbed wire and to pay for labor to clean his land. In this way he can prepare for another planting cycle that will soon commence. Among his plans for the future are to pay off the loan and buy two acres of land.
