Alfredo's story

Alfredo is 30 years old, married, and managed to complete primary school. He lives in his own house and has 3 dependents, his wife and 2 young children. His principal economic activity is agricultural production. Alfredo grows potatoes, beans, green peas, and barley, plus he raises geese on his own agricultural land. Moreover, he grows potatoes “in company” (that is, on land provided by another person who also provides a portion of the seeds, the customers, the field hands, and the inputs needed, in exchange for a division of the harvest in equal parts. The plots mentioned are located in the community of Toqo Rancho in the municipality of Tiraque, some 70 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba.

In addition, Alfredo's 2nd economic activity is to work as a bricklayer in order to generate added income.

At present, Alfredo and his wife wish to be able to improve their agricultural production and to do that, they need investment capital to purchase chicken manure for the next harvest, so as to guarantee their production.
